Corporate Governance & Support
  • Short term relief for Corporate Services Management positions – if you have a short term vacancy or need a temporary replacement until permanent placements are secured, we can provide both onsite short term relief, and offsite administrative support if required.
  • Review of Policies & Procedures – we are able to offer a professional review of Council’s Corporate Policies and Operational Procedures to ensure appropriate controls and flexibilities are in place, and ensure compliance with related Acts and Regulations.
  • Special Projects – if Council has a major Corporate Project that places pressure on existing resources, we can provide a capable and professional project management service to support the project governance and delivery components, including managing relationships with stakeholders and community groups as required. 
  • Financial Management Services
  • Preparation and review of Operational Plans, Revenue Policy and Budgeting – with our extensive experience in local government finance procedures we can assist Council to prepare for the annual financial delivery programs supporting Council’s Community Strategic Plan.
  • Review of Rating Structure – to assist in determining optimum revenue raising capacity and fairness in the adopted rating structure, we are able to assist in scenario modelling to analyse the impacts of Council policy shifts and recommend solutions within the defined variables.
  • Preparation of Financial Statements – with a long history of preparing financial statements and associated working papers, we can offer this service to Council as either a short term onsite or offsite consultancy service.
  • Review and Redesign of Financial Chart of Accounts – if your chart of accounts is in need of review and the task is constantly delayed due to lack of resources we can take on that responsibility for you and ensure the task is completed quickly and efficiently.
Systems Review & Implementation ​
  • Review of IT Processes – An independent systematic review of service delivery associated with your current financial information system can lead to business improvement with increased efficiencies and an improved capacity to manage competing priorities. We have experience in various local government IT packages and can provide a systematic review of process and design elements to deliver recommendation for system improvement.
  • Assistance with IT System Selection – our experienced consultants can assist Council to evaluate proposed new systems by providing independent advice backed by considerable local government experience across a range of council sizes and service requirements.
  • Asset Management Systems and Data Review – one of the critical elements of council operations in this millennium is the complex question of what to do with your assets! Various systems are present in the market place with varying claims of suitability and service delivery from vendors. To assist you in cutting through the rhetoric and providing a perspective based on actual experience, we can offer assistance in the analysis of existing data, and assist you to review various system options, as well as undertake the project management elements of the implementation once Council has made a determination on the chosen product.
Project Management Services
  • IT System Implementation – no matter how small or large your organisation is, a properly managed implementation is essential in delivering the return on investment expected by Council. IT vendors will always provide an internal Project Manager to protect their side of the implementation contract, and it is absolutely essential the council does the same to protect its commercial interests in the project. We can offer a strong project management methodology based on experience with software implementations across various councils from small rural to very large metropolitan sites.
  • Other Major Project Implementations – one of the challenges in trying to resource major one-off projects internally is that existing resources are already heavily committed with day to day activities. While experts in their own specialised field, they often lack expertise in the important elements of a structured and accountable project management philosophy. That’s where our consulting team can assist by strengthening that capacity for you and providing a systematic project planning and reporting structure that ensures a successful implementation, no matter what the project is.
  • Staff Training
  • Our consulting team is backed by Certificate IV qualifications and industry experience to delivery training plans and structured programs to meet specific staff training goals. Our expertise is focussed on IT, Finance and Business Management disciplines with experience in a variety of corporate systems. Our most experienced trainers have extensive knowledge in Practical Plus, XERO and MYOB systems and can tailor a specific training plan for a group or individual users.
  • If a training requirement is outside the scope of our immediate consulting team we have access to other resources and can co-opt additional training personnel if required to meet Council’s specific needs.
